Abstract: | Germinoma occurring in the medulla oblongata is extremely rare. We report a case of primary intracranial germinoma arising in the medulla oblongata of a 24-year-old postpartum female who presented with progressive weakness of upper and lower limbs, seventh nerve palsy, and decreased palatal movements. Her MR imaging showed a heterointense mass lesion in the posterior portion of upper medulla, the histology of which was reported as germinoma. Germ cell tumors should be considered in the differential diagnosis of tumors occurring in the brain stem. |
