The effect of working time and setting time of the glass ionomer upon addition of a chelating agent (+) tartaric acid into the polyacid has been studied. Mechanical properties such as compressive strength and diametral tensile strength were found to improve-upon addition of 5% by weight of the chelating agent. The monomer ratio in the polyacid was also found to be critical in determining the final properties of the dental material.Polymer ScienceEffect of tartaric acid on the properties of polyalkenoate cements
