Abstract
Liposomes are well known as drug carriers for release of many drugs. Various cells can be encapsulated in liposomes, including hepatocytes, thymocytes, hybridoma cells, etc. This is an attempt to encapsulate hemolyzates and red blood cells. Liposomes consisting bf phosphatidyl choline and cholesterol were prepared in a closed system. A second coating (albumin) was given over the liposome layer and crosslinked with glutaraldehyde. Red blood cells were encapsulated in liposomes. The cells remained viable for 12 days.
