A high grade astrocytoma developing following radiotherapy for a medulloblastoma is reported in a six-year-old girl. The latency period was unusually short. The stigmata of Von Recklinghausen's disease in this patient suggest a genetic propensity, though radiation for the primary tumor is considered a more likely predisposing factor in addition to the increased likelihood of development of second malignant tumor in survivors of childhood cancer.
