A very unusual case of sellar-sphenoid sinus hemangioblastoma without stigmata of von Hippel-Lindau disease is presented. Subtotal excision of tumor was done via an extended frontobasal approach. Diagnostic controversies between hemangioblastoma and angioblastic meningioma are discussed and the relevant literature reviewed. (C) 1998 by Elsevier Science Inc.
