Acute sialadenitis following contrast administration is characterized by rapid, painless, bilateral enlargement of salivary glands, and is due to a rare adverse reaction to the administration of iodine containing contrast material. It is usually a benign, self-limiting condition and may recur with further exposure to iodinated contrast. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ireland Ltd. All rights reserved.
